Getting started
What Weekado is, and how to get in.
Weekado is a calm weekly planner. Instead of an endless inbox, you see your week as columns of days and plan into them. Tasks live on a day or wait in a list, appointments sit inline at their time, and an AI assistant can do the typing for you.
Open app.weekado.com in any browser, or install the app on iPhone, iPad and Mac. One account syncs everything across every device automatically; see Sync & your data.
The free trial
Every new account starts with a 7-day free trial with everything unlocked. After that, Weekado Pro is €5 per month or €50 per year (incl. VAT). You can export your data at any time, on any plan.
Two layouts, one app
On a wide screen you get the multi-day board with drag-and-drop. On a phone you get a focused single-day view with swipe gestures. They share the same data; this guide covers both and marks which is which.
The week board
The heart of Weekado on a wide screen.
Columns and today
DesktopEach column is one day, oldest on the left. Today is gently tinted; Sundays and public holidays get a soft wash. A calendar-week number (for example “W 24”) runs down the left edge of every Monday.
How many days
DesktopThe control in the centre of the bottom bar sets how many day columns are visible: 3, 5 or 7. The “1” beside them is not a day count; it drops you straight into Focus mode on a single day (see Focus mode).
Moving around
Desktop- The ‹ › arrows step one day back or forward.
- The ‹‹ ›› arrows jump a whole week at a time.
- “Today” snaps back to the current day.
- The calendar button opens a month picker to jump to any date.
- The board scrolls forward indefinitely; keep going to plan weeks ahead.
Day notes and mottos
DesktopAbove each date you can add a short note: the one focus of that day, like “Q2 close” or “deep-work morning”. Click the note line to type; keep a few short lines and drag them to reorder.
Filter and search
DesktopThe coloured dots in the top bar filter the whole board to one area; click a dot again to show everything. Search (⌘K) opens a palette that looks through every task and appointment title and note.
Name your board
DesktopThe title in the centre of the top bar is editable; click it to name your board. The name syncs across your devices.
Tasks
The core unit: one line, one thing to do.
Add a task
Every column and list has a “+ Task” line at the bottom. Type and press Enter; the field clears so you can keep adding. Paste several lines at once and each line becomes its own task.
File it while you type
Start a task with an area’s #tag (for example “#w call the bank”) and it lands in that area as you create it. On a phone a colour bar above the keyboard does the same with a tap.
Complete and reopen
Click the circle to the left of a task to check it off; click again to reopen. On a day, completed tasks stay in place (dimmed and struck through) so the day reads as a record of what happened. In the lists and the inbox they tidy themselves away the next day into a “Done” footer (one click to reopen), so backlogs don’t pile up; a Settings switch keeps them in place if you’d rather.
The task back-side
Open a task to see its detail: an editable title, its area, a “move to day or list” picker, and a notes field. Notes are full Markdown, including checklists; tick items right in the note, or use “+ item” to add a checklist line without typing Markdown. A small counter shows checklist progress.
Move tasks by dragging
DesktopDrag a task to another day, to a precise spot within a day, or into one of the section lists, and back again. It lands exactly where you release it.
Select many at once
On desktop, Cmd- or Ctrl-click (or Shift-click) to select several tasks; on a phone, long-press one to start selecting, then tap others. A bar appears with bulk actions: move them to today, tomorrow, a specific day or a list, mark all done, copy as text, or delete.
Undo
DesktopPress ⌘Z (Ctrl-Z) to undo: deletes, moves, bulk actions and pull-forward can all be reversed. A short undo prompt also appears after the bigger actions.
Overdue, pulled forward
Unfinished tasks from past days don’t nag. When some exist, an overdue banner on today offers to pull them into the current day in one click, when you decide to, not automatically.
Quick capture and the inbox
Catch a thought now, sort it into your week later.
The inbox
The inbox is a neutral holding spot for anything you haven’t placed yet, no day or area required. It’s the first column in the Lists view (and the top of Lists on a phone). Capture into it freely, then triage each item onto a day or into a section when you plan. It’s meant to stay near-empty, the opposite of an inbox you live in.
Quick capture (⌘I)
Press ⌘I (Ctrl-I) anywhere in the app to open a small capture box. Type a task, press Enter, and it lands in the inbox. You can file it as you type: add an area’s #tag, or a day like “tomorrow” or “Fri”, right in the line.
A system-wide hotkey
DesktopThe desktop app adds a global hotkey that opens a tiny capture window even when Weekado isn’t focused, and it floats in over full-screen apps, so a passing thought never costs you your place. It’s ⌥Space by default; set your own under Settings → Quick capture.
Triage when you plan
Drag an inbox item onto a day or into a section, or open it to set a day, list and area. The inbox is the front door; your week and lists are where things live.

A task with a time
An appointment has a start time and an optional end time. Add one to a day, give it a title and time, and it takes the colour of its area like any task.
Inline, in time order
Appointments sit among that day’s tasks, ordered by time, so the day reads as one top-to-bottom plan: what’s next is always the next line, whether it’s a meeting or a task.
Edit, move, complete
Open an appointment to change its title, times, area or notes, and drag it to another day on desktop. Check it off when it’s done, the same as a task.
Forgiving time entry
Times are flexible: “9”, “9:30”, “14.30” and “9am” all work and are tidied into a clean time.
Areas
The colour-coded spheres of your life and work.
- WORK #w 9
- CLIENTS #c 6
- PERSONAL #p 5
- FINANCE #f 3
- ADMIN #a 4
What an area is
An area is a colour-coded sphere: Work, Personal, Clients, Finance, whatever fits. Every task, list and appointment can belong to one, so colour alone tells you what something is. New accounts begin with a few example areas you can rename or replace.
Create and manage
Open the area manager (the “+” in the Lists view) to add an area, give it a colour from the palette, rename it, drag areas to reorder them, and set a short #tag.
The #tag shortcut
Each area has a one- or two-letter tag, such as #w for Work. Typing it at the start of a new task files the task in that area instantly.
Deleting an area
Deleting an area also clears the tasks waiting in its section lists, so Weekado asks you to confirm first.

Five sections per area
Five sections per area
Beside the calendar, each area has five lists: PRIO, NEXT, LATER, WAITING and SOMEDAY. It’s a gentle GTD structure: what’s next, what’s waiting on someone else, what’s for one day. Tasks here carry no date; they wait until you place them on a day.
Rename them to fit you
Click a section header to rename it; the new name applies across all areas. Tune them to how you think: WAITING might become “Blocked”, or SOMEDAY “Backlog”.
The Lists view
Switch to Lists to see the five sections with every area’s tasks together, clustered by area and colour-coded by their dots. The tabs along the top filter the board to a single area (click the active one again to show all of them), and you can drag the panel’s top edge to make it taller. On a phone the sections stack and the tabs filter the same way.
Plan from lists onto days
Dragging a task from a section onto a day is the core weekly move: capture without a date, then commit it to a day when you plan.
See the methodFocus mode
One task, a timer, nothing else.
One task at a time
Focus mode hides everything but the task in front of you and a timer. Enter it from the “1” button in the bottom bar on desktop; on a phone, just turn the device to landscape and Weekado drops into focus automatically.
The Pomodoro timer
A classic rhythm: 25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute break, and a longer 15-minute break after four rounds. A chime marks the end of each round, and the timer follows the real clock, so it stays correct even if you switch tabs or set the phone down.
Done and next
Each round shows one task with its notes. “Done & next” checks it off and brings up the next open task; “Skip” moves on without completing. An upcoming appointment shows as a “next up” cue, so a meeting never sneaks up on you.
Breaks
Between rounds Weekado nudges you to stand up and breathe. Skip a break or jump straight back into focus. When the day’s tasks are all done, it tells you so.

‹ Swipe ›
A day at a time
PhoneThe phone shows one day in full. Swipe left or right to move to the next or previous day. The week strip across the top lets you jump within the week and shows which days carry tasks.
The month calendar
PhonePull down on the week strip and a month calendar opens under your finger; zoom between month and year and tap any date to jump there.
Swipe a row
PhoneSwipe a task or appointment sideways to reveal quick actions: move it to the next or previous day, set its area, or delete it.
Select several
PhoneLong-press a task to start selecting, then tap more to add them. The bulk bar (done, copy, delete) works just as it does on desktop.
Areas above the keyboard
PhoneWhile you type a new task, a colour bar floats above the keyboard; tap an area to file the task there without typing its #tag.
Day, assistant, Lists
PhoneThe bottom bar has two tabs, Day and Lists, with the AI assistant in the centre. Tap the centre button to open the assistant; the Lists tab holds the same five sections as on desktop.
The scratchpad
A synced notepad for loose thoughts.
A synced notepad
The note icon (bottom-left on desktop) opens a free-form scratchpad: one Markdown page that syncs across your devices. It’s the place for the loose thought that isn’t a task yet.
Checklists and preview
Write Markdown, including “- [ ]” checklists you can tick in the preview, and switch between editing and preview. It saves itself as you type.
The AI assistant
Plan in plain language; it does the typing.
What’s on today, and what fits realistically?
Two appointments and four tasks. Realistic: the report and the slides. I moved the rest to tomorrow.
✓ 2 tasks moved to Thursday
Open the assistant
On desktop, click the sparkle pill in the top bar or press ⌘J (Ctrl-J); on a phone, tap the centre button in the bottom bar. It opens a chat that works directly on your week.
What it can do
Ask in plain language: “plan my week”, “move everything unfinished from today to tomorrow”, “add a dentist appointment Thursday at 3”. It can create, complete, update and move tasks and appointments, set a day’s note, and read back what’s on a day, a week or your lists. For safety it never deletes anything from inside the app.
Photo and voice
Hand it a photo of a handwritten list or a whiteboard and it reads the items into tasks. Or hold the microphone and speak your week; it transcribes and acts.
Included, or your own key
Two ways to power it. The included Weekado connection works out of the box, with fair-use limits. Or bring your own key from Anthropic or OpenAI: your key stays on your device, your requests go straight to that provider and never through Weekado, and you choose the model.

Add “Finalize the quarterly report” for tomorrow morning, high priority.
{ title: "Finalize the quarterly report", day: "tomorrow", area: "PRIO" } ✓ Added for Tue, top of PRIO.
Your week, from any AI app
Weekado runs an MCP server, the open standard that lets AI apps use tools. Connect it once and an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT can read and change your week from its own window: “what’s on for tomorrow?”, “tidy my NEXT list”.
Sign in once
You connect mcp.weekado.com and sign in with your Weekado account. From then on the outside app talks to your data over a secure connection.
What it can do
The same actions as the in-app assistant (list, create, complete, update and move tasks and appointments, and set day notes) and, because it sits behind your own sign-in, it can also delete when you ask it to.
More on AI & MCPHolidays and school breaks
Public and school holidays, where they apply.
Nine countries, region-aware
Weekado can mark public holidays and school holidays for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States, down to the state, canton or school zone where that matters.
How they appear
A public holiday replaces the weekday name in its column and tints the day softly, like a Sunday. School-holiday days get a thin accent band along the top, so a busy week reads at a glance.
Choose your region
In Settings, pick your region for public holidays and, separately, for school holidays, or leave school holidays off if they’re not relevant to you.
Sync and your data
Local-first, synced, and always yours.
Local-first and offline
Weekado keeps a full copy of your data on the device, so it’s instant and works with no connection. Changes sync to your account in the background and appear on your other devices; hosting is in the EU.
Automatic backups
Weekado snapshots your data automatically, and you can take a snapshot yourself any time. Each one lists what it holds (tasks, appointments, areas) and can be restored, and restoring first snapshots your current state, so nothing is lost.
Export and import
Export everything as JSON (a complete, re-importable backup) or your tasks as CSV for a spreadsheet, and import a JSON backup to bring data back. Export is always available, on any plan.
Delete your account
Settings has a clear account-deletion step that removes your account and all its data from every device. It asks you to confirm by typing the word, because it can’t be undone.
Settings

Language and appearance
Run the app in English, German, French or Spanish, or follow the browser. Toggle light and dark from the bottom bar or Settings; your choice is remembered.
